October Jakarta Fashion Week took place for seven days in a row. There were many emerging and well-recognized fashion designers from Indonesia, Japan, and Korea that participated in the event. Modest fashion designers were present as well. I picked couple of designers, I found their designs speak to the ordinary GAL who likes to wear clothing with an International view about the world alongside some design spirit from Asia.
Japanese fashion designer, she graduated from BUNKA Fashion Graduated University. Inoue launched her fashion brand “RIEKA INOUE GNU” in 2015. She also worked with famous Japanese designer Yohji Yamamotov as an assistant patterner.
Inoue is one of the few fashion designers who is creating Modest fashion in Japan. I thought the colors of her Autumn/ Winter 2019 collection have a balanced mixture between dark and light while making a statement at the same time. Coming from Japan her designs show her understanding of Asian alongside Middle Eastern silhouette, the length of her skirts can make a girl look sexy showing the right length, regardless modest or not, it’s just we Asian and Middle Eastern girls perhaps not all known with high height, understanding this detail can make a lot of difference to how we look.

Women’s Fashion brand from Korea. The brand’s aesthetic is based on trendy color textile designs. I found it interesting to have a fashion brand where illustrators, photographers and song writers are the main engine in the company rather than one designer representing the brand and its vision when creating the collection.

Setting aside from fashion designers a bit to what complements a great look, I want to showcase the work of Indonesian accessories designer Rinaldy Yunardi, he started in 1995 by designing wedding tiara’s and since has developed to create fashion accessories and Millinery. Yunardi has created many accessories and head pieces to celebrities like Naomi Campbell and Kendall Jenner.
Tjahyawatiis an Indonesian modest fashion designer. I found her designs very elegant. Her main focus in her designs is Muslim modest fashion couture but you can find she has everyday style clothing in her collection.
